RCMP Halifax International Airport Detachment

1 Bell Blvd.
Enfield, NS
B3J 3E1

General Description

The RCMP Halifax Detachment provides policing services to the Halifax International Airport terminal. The Halifax International Airport has a contract with the RCMP to provide security for pre-boarding incidents. Calls for service can include drugs, weapons, suspicious baggage or even potential explosive devices. Members respond to calls from the passenger screening areas of the airport as well as the Hold-Baggage Screening area.
The members serving the Airport have access to many unique tools such as a full time Police Service Dog (PSD) handler with a bomb profile dog, access to mechanical bomb sniffing technology, and they work closely with the Explosive Disposal Unit and other security agencies.

In the near future, members working out of the airport will be receiving anti-terrorism and aerodrome specific radio training.

The Halifax International Airport is a unique policing environment with approximately 3.5 million people flying in and out of Halifax International Airport annually. In 2005, there were 77,401 recorded flights coming in and out of the Airport.

RCMP Halifax Detachment provides 24/7 police coverage and has access to additional security resources.
